THE PURPOSE:

The purpose of this project is to identify and develop valuable tropical plant extracts with scientifically proven medicinal value. There are many known and unknown plants in Ghana’s Tropical Climate that possess powerful

medicinal properties. Our goal is to establish a research lab that will specialize in analyzing these plants and developing them into useful natural medicinal products.

OBJECTIVES:

Research,Identify,Develop, & Patent extracts and combinations of extracts that have proven

medicinal effectiveness.

INITIAL PLANTS OF INTEREST:

Thonningia Sanguinea- Aphrodisiac,

Antibacterial, Natural Penis Enlargement, Asthma, Antioxidant.

BASE-LINE CALCULATIONS:

We can reasonably estimate that a "minimum" figure of 5 percent of all plant species in Ghana can serve the cause of medicine in one way or another. Furthermore, we can presume that at least one-half of these plants occur in areas that are accessible to us. We can infer that Ghana probably supports some 200 important medicinal species. It is not unusual for a plant-derived extract to be developed (often into pharmaceutical drugs) and to achieve commercial sales worldwide worth many millions of dollars per year, ranging from $10 million to around $250 million. With $50 million as a safe low average, the tropical plant extract sector of Ghana could very well generate plant-derived medicinals worth $5 billion per year.

THE PURPOSE:

The purpose of this project is to help preserve and restore some of the vulnerable and endangered species of plant life in Ghana’s Easter Region. Our goal is to establish a hub that will serve as a center for proactive community biodiversity activities. This includes locating seeds and cuttings of rare & endangered trees & plants. We will then propagate and redistribute these plants to preserve Biodiversity while also raising public awareness about the importance of preserving our ecological heritage.

PHASE 1 OBJECTIVES:

1. Locate, Propagate, & Distribute vulnerable & Endangered Plant Species throughout Ghana.

2. Build The Plant Biodiversity Information & Resource Hub in Kitase. This is an area in Ghana’s Eastern Region where a variety of plant species are fast disappearing due in part to lack of awareness. This Hub will be a clearing house for information related to local plant Biodiversity as well as a source for the public to find young plants and seedlings of rare and vulnerable species that we have propagated for distribution and cultivation.

3. Foster public support by hosting regular workshops, events, & social activities that aim at raising public awareness and teaching about the importance of preserving vulnerable and endangered plants species.
